Safety

A test is never worth ignoring a warning sign

The Quick Assessment does not require exercise. If you choose a field test, use a safe setting, follow its protocol, and skip it when exertion may not be appropriate.

Do not start a self-test today if

  • you have chest pain, pressure, faintness, unusual shortness of breath, or a new irregular heartbeat;
  • you are acutely ill, feverish, injured, or unusually exhausted;
  • a clinician has advised you to avoid or limit exertion and has not cleared this activity;
  • the route, weather, equipment, or supervision is not safe;
  • you feel uncertain about whether the test is suitable for you.

Stop immediately if

  • you develop chest pain or pressure, faintness, confusion, severe breathlessness, sudden weakness, or loss of coordination;
  • your heartbeat feels new, irregular, or alarming;
  • pain changes your movement or the conditions become unsafe.

For severe, sudden, or life-threatening symptoms, stop and contact your local emergency service. This website cannot assess an emergency.

Safer alternatives

Skip the physical test and continue with a lower-confidence result, enter a recent reliable measurement, or ask a qualified professional about supervised testing. Core results and safety information remain available without completing a test.

This is general safety guidance. If you have a health condition, symptoms, or concerns about exercise, ask a qualified health professional what is appropriate for you.
